Google has officially launched the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at its Made by Google event, introducing a redesigned foldable smartphone with a slimmer and lighter body, improved durability, upgraded cameras and the company’s latest Tensor G6 processor.
The new foldable is nearly 10% lighter and almost 1mm thinner than its predecessor, making it more comfortable to carry while maintaining the large-screen experience associated with foldable devices. Google has also focused heavily on durability, an area that has remained a major concern for consumers considering foldable smartphones.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold features a 48MP main camera alongside 30x Super Zoom, giving users enhanced capabilities for capturing distant subjects and detailed photographs. The phone also comes with IP68 water and dust resistance, providing additional protection against everyday exposure to dust and water.
A redesigned hinge is another major hardware improvement. Google has combined it with a glass-fiber composite back, which the company says makes the new foldable up to three times more durable than the previous generation. The improvements are aimed at addressing concerns over the long-term reliability of foldable phones.
Powering the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is Google’s new Tensor G6 chip, which is also used across the other Pixel 11 models. Google describes the processor as its most powerful Tensor chip to date, with a focus on performance and AI-powered features.
The new foldable also comes with 16GB of RAM across all storage configurations, including the 256GB version. This gives users substantial memory for multitasking, demanding applications and Google’s AI features. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is available in Olive and Obsidian finishes.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold starts at $1,899, making it $100 more expensive than its predecessor. Google is positioning the higher price alongside the device’s slimmer construction, improved cameras, stronger materials and upgraded internal hardware.
Pre-orders for the Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold are now open, with official sales scheduled to begin on August 20. With its combination of improved durability, lighter construction and upgraded performance, Google is hoping the Pixel 11 Pro Fold will attract consumers who have remained hesitant about buying foldable smartphones because of reliability concerns.
