ANP Rejects Administrative Division of Provinces, Says It Is a Move to Seize Resources

Asghar Khan Achakzai Says Pashtuns Understand Conspiracies Behind Administrative Division Plans

Chaman:

The Provincial President of the Awami National Party (ANP) stated that any plan to divide provinces on administrative grounds is completely unacceptable to the Awami National Party.

He said that the ANP has always supported the reorganization of federating units in the country on national foundations; however, this process should be based on language, history, culture, and geography.

According to him, certain forces raising the slogan of administrative division of provinces are in fact making a systematic attempt to seize the remaining resources, something that the conscious Pashtun people fully understand.

He further said that the country is currently passing through severe political and economic tensions, where unemployment, insecurity, bad governance, extremism, and terrorism have reached alarming levels.

The closure of trade and restrictions on movement along the Durand Line for the past three years amount to the economic destruction of the Pashtun people.

In the current situation, he termed the continuation of the party’s organizational activities and the holding of training workers’ conventions at the tehsil level as a positive development. He added that the large participation of workers proves that the people still trust the philosophy of Bacha Khan and genuine democratic and national politics.

He urged party officials to prioritize efforts to make organizational coordination more effective and active.

He expressed these views while addressing participants of a workers’ convention organized under the leadership of the Tehsil President in Chaman.

The convention was also addressed by Provincial General Secretary Mabat Kaka, Central Additional Secretary General Ubaidullah Abid, District President Abdul Khaliq Haqmal, District Pishin President Asghar Ali Tareen, Tehsil President Ismat Warakhta, District Senior Vice President Chairman Gul Zaman, Tehsil General Secretary Muhammad Akram, Najib Khan, Master Sharafuddin, and others.

The workers’ convention was held under the chairmanship of Tehsil President Ismat Warakhta and was attended by a large number of party officials and workers.

On the occasion, the Tehsil Secretary presented the performance report of the tehsil, which was thoroughly discussed and reviewed by the participants, while suggestions were also presented for future party activities.

The speakers stated that party workers are the real asset of the Awami National Party and that the political and organizational training of workers is the need of the hour so that they can effectively play their role in protecting national rights and addressing the serious national and economic problems faced by the people.

They emphasized that officials at the basic unit, tehsil, and district levels should ensure close contact with the public and visit villages and neighborhoods to understand public issues.

The speakers further said that the Awami National Party has always struggled for principled politics, democratic traditions, constitutional supremacy, and the rights of oppressed nations, and that the party will continue to raise its voice for the rights of the people on every platform.

In the current circumstances, political workers bear a heavy responsibility to create awareness among the masses and guide the younger generation towards positive political participation so that the country may overcome its crises.
