Protesters Announce Closure of Airport Road and International Highway; Interior Minister’s Talks Fail
Quetta (Syed Sardar Mohammad Khondai)
Armed men attacked the local population in Hanna Urak, a well-known tourist spot in Quetta. Following the assault, local tribes put up strong resistance and fought back against the armed assailants.
According to police sources, 4 local residents were killed and several others injured in the deadly clashes last night. Eyewitnesses say the armed men abducted 11 people and took them away.
Immediately after the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, which is still ongoing.
Highway Blocked, Talks Fail
In protest against the incident, local tribes, political parties, and tribal elders from Hanna Urak blocked Airport Road and Quetta’s main international highway to all traffic.
Protesters say the highway will remain closed until the suspects are arrested, the abductees are recovered, and lasting peace is restored in the area.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau held talks with protesters last night, but the negotiations were unsuccessful.
According to information received until 1:00 PM on Monday, July 6, 2026, the situation in the area remains tense. The closure of all major routes is causing severe hardship for residents.
Locals and various political and social groups in Balochistan have strongly condemned the incident and demanded immediate action from the government.
