A special medical camp focused on mental health was organized at District Jail Mandi Bahauddin.

This commendable initiative was undertaken in alignment with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif—which emphasizes prison reform, the safety of inmates, and prisoner welfare—and in accordance with the special directives of Punjab Home Secretary Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi and Inspector General of Prisons Punjab Mian Muhammad Salik Jalal, who are transforming prisons into centers of rehabilitation and humanity rather than mere places of punishment. Driven by this spirit of service, and through the special efforts of District Jail Mandi Bahauddin Superintendent Haq Nawaz, a special check-up was arranged for inmates suffering from mental health issues. Life’s trials manifest in various forms, and some individuals find themselves grappling with mental distress and psychological challenges; such individuals deserve our special attention, empathy, and access to the best possible treatment. To this end, Dr. Waheed Raziq, a renowned psychiatrist from Mandi Bahauddin, paid a special visit to the district jail. Dr. Raziq runs an excellent facility for patients with mental illnesses in Mandi Bahauddin, providing treatment in a modern and compassionate environment.
The jail’s psychologist, Ghazala Noreen, was also present on the occasion. Dr. Waheed Raziq conducted a detailed examination of all the special category prisoners, interacted with them with great compassion, and provided valuable guidance regarding their medical treatment. This initiative by Jail Superintendent Haq Nawaz reflects the practical implementation of directives issued by the Punjab Home Secretary and the Inspector General of Prisons; it serves as proof that a prison is not merely a place of punishment but a center for rehabilitation and the restoration of human dignity. We pray to Allah Almighty to grant complete recovery to all the sick and to bestow abundant rewards upon everyone who participated in this noble cause. Ameen.
