Airbus, Dassault Systèmes, and over 90 smaller European technology firms and lobby groups have called on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to establish a sovereign infrastructure fund to boost public investments in advanced technologies.
The coalition argues that increased funding is crucial to ensuring Europe’s competitiveness in sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and clean energy. They warn that without strong financial backing, the region risks falling behind global rivals, particularly the U.S. and China.
The appeal comes amid growing concerns over Europe’s technological sovereignty and the need for strategic investments to maintain its leadership in innovation and industrial development.
