Pakistan Cannot Progress Without Ending Master-Slave Mindset: Mahmood Khan Achakzai
Quetta (Syed Sardar Mohammad Khondai): Mahmood Khan Achakzai, chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, head of the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayeen Pakistan and Leader of the Opposition, has said that Pakistan is facing one of the worst crises in its history. He said the way forward lies in upholding the Constitution, ensuring Parliament’s supremacy and ending the master-slave mindset.
He was delivering the presidential address at a conference organized by the Pashtunkhwa Students Organization (PSO). The event was also addressed by the party’s central secretary, Chief of Pashtoon Nawab Muhammad Ayaz Khan Jogezai, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, PSO central organizer Saifullah Khan, and other central and provincial party leaders.
Achakzai said that despite living in a region blessed with some of the world’s best land and natural potential, the Pashtun nation continues to face poverty, unemployment and hardship. He said a country cannot function effectively when its people struggle while the elite enjoy a life of luxury.
“We want to see a strong Pakistan, and this is only possible when the rights of all nations are recognized,” he said, adding that countries cannot make progress through force and coercion.
Emphasizing the importance of education, Achakzai urged young members of the Pashtunkhwa Students Organization to focus on their studies and play a sincere role in making educational institutions in southern Pashtunkhwa functional.
“It is not that Pakistan has not given us educational institutions; excellent institutions exist, but it is our collective responsibility to make them functional,” he added.
Referring to Imran Khan, Achakzai said pressure was being exerted on him to sign a deal, claiming that he would be released the same day if he agreed. He questioned how such an arrangement could be possible.
He also alleged that a government formed through vote rigging and the theft of the public mandate was illegal and said it would not be accepted under any circumstances.
At the conclusion of the conference, Achakzai administered the oath to the newly elected executive members of the Pashtunkhwa Students Organization.
