Quetta (Syed Sardar Mohammad Khondai) — The All Balochistan Private Schools Associations Alliance has strongly condemned what it described as a campaign to damage the reputation of private educational institutions, saying their dignity and standing would not be compromised.
In a joint statement, the Alliance’s provincial leadership expressed serious concern over what it called organized propaganda against private schools over the past several days. The leaders said such efforts threatened to undermine nearly two decades of hard work by students, teachers and education professionals across Balochistan.
The Alliance said private educational institutions had played an important role in providing education and training to children across Balochistan, a province facing significant educational challenges.
According to the statement, thousands of private schools have worked to improve educational opportunities and help students prepare for a successful future. The leadership said parents continued to choose private institutions for their children, describing this preference as a reflection of public trust in the sector.
The Alliance maintained that criticism targeting the entire private education sector overlooked the contributions of teachers, school administrators and other professionals who had worked for years to support students.
The statement also addressed objections to the collection of school fees during vacations. The Alliance said some individuals were opposing the practice without considering the continuing financial responsibilities of private institutions.
It explained that schools must continue to pay teachers and other staff members during holidays, while also meeting building rental and other operational expenses. These obligations, the leadership said, did not stop when regular classes were suspended.
The Alliance argued that, amid rising inflation, greater attention should be given to the financial pressures faced by schools, including rental costs. It suggested that building owners could be urged to reduce rents rather than placing the entire burden on educational institutions.
The statement also highlighted the financial difficulties of teachers employed by private schools. According to the Alliance, many receive modest salaries compared with government employees working under official pay scales.
The leadership further argued that parents’ continued enrolment of children in private schools reflected their confidence in the education and services these institutions provide.
Concluding the statement, the All Balochistan Private Schools Associations Alliance reiterated its commitment to protecting the reputation, dignity and standing of private educational institutions. It said the sector’s contributions should be recognized and that no compromise would be made on the respect and sanctity of private schools.
