Shutter-down strike across Balochistan including Quetta, Chaman; future course of action to be announced in the evening
Chaman (Syed Sardar Mohammad Khondai)
In solidarity with the martyrs of the Ziarat tragedy, a complete shutter-down strike was observed on Friday across Balochistan, including Quetta and Chaman.
The strike, called by the Dharna Committee after last night’s negotiations between the committee and the government negotiating team ended in a deadlock, was successful in all districts. No untoward incident was reported from any part of the province, while the administration had made strict security arrangements in various districts.
The Dharna Committee claimed that the government negotiating team was not ready to accept the legitimate demands of the dharna, which led to the failure of the talks.
On the other hand, Balochistan’s Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau said that the martyrs of Ziarat are our martyrs too. Food Minister and MPA elected from Ziarat, Noor Muhammad Dummar, said that politics should be avoided over the martyrs of Ziarat.
Meanwhile, an important joint meeting of the Dharna Committee will be held this evening, in which the future course of action after the shutter-down strike will be discussed and important decisions will be announced.
