Deputy Commissioner Attock Chairs Joint Meeting of RTA and District Accident Review Committee
ATTOCK: Deputy Commissioner Attock Dr. Mudassar Ahmad Shah chaired a joint meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and the District Accident Review Committee at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to review key transport, road safety, and public service issues across the district.
During the meeting, RTA Secretary Zaheer Ahmad Khan gave a comprehensive briefing on various agenda items, while representatives of the relevant government departments also participated.
The meeting reviewed the registration of rickshaws across the district, digitalization of weigh stations, action against vehicles operating with expired route permits, improvement of bus terminals, and the establishment of electric bus stops in Attock and Hazro. Participants also discussed proposals to introduce an electric bus service for residents of Malahi Tola and restore the electric bus stop at Attock Fort.
The District Accident Review Committee also examined road safety measures, traffic accident trends, effective implementation of vehicle fitness regulations, violations of axle load limits, overloading and overcharging by transport operators, and the use of LPG cylinders in passenger vehicles.
The meeting agreed that all public transport vehicles must be equipped with fire extinguishers. It was also decided to install traffic signboards with Urdu explanations to improve public awareness and help motorists better understand road safety instructions.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mudassar Ahmad Shah directed all concerned departments to ensure strict enforcement of traffic laws and timely implementation of all approved decisions. He emphasized improving passenger facilities, strengthening road safety measures, and upgrading the district’s transport system to provide safe, organized, and high-quality transportation services to the public.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that coordinated efforts among all departments are essential to reducing traffic accidents, improving transport infrastructure, and ensuring a safer travel environment for citizens throughout Attock District.
