Attock Marks Kashmir Exploitation Day with Ceremony and Solidarity Walk
Attock (Ijaz-ul-Hasan): Kashmir Exploitation Day was observed in Attock with a ceremony and a solidarity walk to express unwavering support for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir and reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to their right to self-determination.
The event was attended by Member of the National Assembly Sheikh Aftab Ahmed as the chief guest and chaired by Deputy Commissioner Attock Dr. Mudassar Ahmad Shah. Among the participants were DPO Attock Sardar Mawara Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Anil Saeed, PML-N District President Saleem Shahzad, Health Committee Chairman Malik Hameed Akbar Khan, Chief Officer Municipal Committee Sardar Aftab Ahmad Khan, Chief Officer District Council Ali Abbas Bukhari, education department officials, civil society representatives, and a large number of students.
A solidarity walk was organized from the District Council Hall to Kachehri Chowk. Participants wore black armbands and carried banners and placards bearing slogans in support of the Kashmiri people. At 9:00 a.m., a siren was sounded, followed by a one-minute silence to mark the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said that August 5, 2019, marked a turning point for Kashmir when India revoked the region’s special constitutional status. He stated that the people of Kashmir have the fundamental right to self-determination and urged the international community to play its role in ensuring the implementation of United Nations resolutions on the Kashmir dispute.
He added that the Kashmiri people have struggled for freedom for decades and that no amount of force can suppress their desire for self-determination. He also said Pakistan will continue to raise the Kashmir issue at diplomatic forums and stand by the Kashmiri people.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mudassar Ahmad Shah described the Kashmir issue as a battle of narrative and justice, saying the people of Pakistan remain united in their support for the Kashmiri cause.
Other speakers reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued moral, political, and diplomatic support for the people of Kashmir. They called on the international community to ensure that Kashmir is resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, while urging India to end alleged human rights violations and respect the right of self-determination.
The event concluded with participants chanting slogans in support of Kashmir’s freedom and expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Similar rallies, seminars, and awareness events were also held across all tehsils of Attock district to mark Kashmir Exploitation Day.
