Faisalabad: In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the divisional administration has launched work on the “Adopt a Park” initiative. In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar to review measures for transforming the park located at Chhoti D Ground into a state-of-the-art “Sukoon Wellness Park.”
During the meeting, Director Development Asif Chohan briefed participants that a private company will undertake the park’s development, while the district administration will provide support in cleanliness and infrastructure-related works. The park will feature various dedicated sections and will remain open to the public with free entry. Ownership of the park will remain with the Horticulture Authority.
The commissioner directed the Horticulture Agency to prepare a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the private company. The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Coordination Tanveer Murtaza, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Malik Murtaza, Managing Director Horticulture Agency Dilawar Khan, and other officials.
It was further informed that Gut Park and the green belt along Susan Road will also be upgraded under the same public-private partnership model. Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar stated that, in the initial phase, work is underway to ensure the maintenance of 100 small and large parks across the city under the “Adopt a Park” program.
