Rabat/Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Morocco has named an important highway in his honor, a statement that has surprised observers as Moroccan authorities have not publicly confirmed the announcement.

In a post shared on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Sunday, Trump thanked King Mohammed VI of Morocco for what he described as the gesture and said he hoped to travel on the road in the future.

“Thank you to His Majesty King Mohammed VI. I look forward to travelling on the Great Highway one day,” Trump wrote.

Despite the president’s remarks, the Moroccan government and the Royal Palace had not issued any official statement confirming that a major highway had been renamed after Trump.

The apparent lack of confirmation has sparked questions among political observers and media outlets, with many awaiting clarification from Moroccan officials regarding the reported tribute.

Morocco has maintained close diplomatic relations with the United States over the years, with cooperation spanning trade, security, regional stability, and investment. The two countries have also strengthened ties through various bilateral agreements and strategic partnerships.

Trump’s announcement comes amid continued attention on U.S.–Morocco relations, although it remains unclear whether the reported highway naming has been formally approved or announced by Moroccan authorities.

Until an official statement is issued by Rabat, the claim remains unverified by Moroccan officials.
