QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has condemned attacks targeting innocent and unarmed civilians, saying terrorists who target ordinary people have become devoid of humanity. The chief minister expressed these views during a visit to his native area of North Dera Bugti, where he met tribal elders and residents of his constituency.
During the visit, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti interacted with local people in the traditional Balochi manner and inquired about their well-being. He also sought information about the prevailing situation in the area and listened to the problems being faced by residents.
The chief minister listened to complaints concerning different government departments and took immediate notice of several public issues. He issued instructions to the relevant authorities on the spot and directed them to take steps for the early resolution of the problems raised by the people.
Sarfraz Bugti said government officers and officials should make public service their top priority and avoid unnecessary delays in resolving citizens’ problems. He said that addressing public issues at the local level could save people from the difficulty and expense of travelling to Quetta for routine matters.
The chief minister said the provincial government was developing an effective mechanism to improve governance in remote areas of Balochistan. He added that efforts were being made to provide basic facilities and government services to citizens at their doorsteps so that residents of far-flung areas would not have to travel long distances for minor issues.
Speaking about education, Sarfraz Bugti said hundreds of closed schools across Balochistan had been reopened and made functional. He described education as the foundation of progress for the country, nation and families, saying the provincial government was taking serious steps to provide children in Balochistan with opportunities for quality education.
The chief minister also discussed the law and order situation in the province and said security forces’ operations against terrorism were essential for maintaining peace in Balochistan. He strongly condemned attacks on innocent and unarmed civilians, saying terrorists who target peaceful people had become devoid of humanity.
Sarfraz Bugti paid tribute to the sacrifices of the security forces and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism. He said their sacrifices for restoring peace in Balochistan and protecting citizens were unforgettable and that the nation would always remember the martyrs who gave their lives in the line of duty.
Referring to Independence Day celebrations, the chief minister said the nation had not forgotten its martyrs. He said those who sacrificed their lives for the defence, security and peace of Pakistan were the pride of the entire nation and deserved the highest respect and tribute.
During the visit, tribal elders thanked Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti for giving special attention to the development of backward and remote areas of Balochistan. They said the launch of large-scale development projects in remote areas, including North Dera Bugti, was a major achievement of the provincial government.
The tribal elders also said that government initiatives in the health and education sectors were producing visible improvements in remote communities. They appreciated the chief minister’s decision to listen directly to public complaints and issue immediate instructions to the relevant authorities for resolving local problems.
The visit highlighted the provincial government’s stated focus on improving governance, strengthening public services, expanding education and healthcare facilities, and accelerating development in remote areas of Balochistan, while also emphasizing continued efforts to maintain peace and protect citizens from terrorism.
