BALTIMORE, MD — Political activity is gathering momentum across Maryland as the United States moves closer to the 2026 midterm elections, with communities across the state increasingly engaging in campaigns, public forums and voter outreach initiatives.

In Baltimore County, a gathering in support of Democratic county executive candidate Julian Jones and his team brought together political supporters, business leaders and representatives from diverse ethnic and community backgrounds, highlighting growing grassroots engagement ahead of the November election.

The Pakistani-American community maintained a visible presence at the event, reflecting its expanding participation in local civic and political affairs.

Among those attending were prominent Pakistani-American community members Mr. and Mrs. Ejaz Jalal and businessman Mian Irfan Yaqoob, along with other community and civic figures. Speaking during the gathering, Mr. and Mrs. Jalal voiced their support for the Democratic Party and encouraged eligible voters to become actively involved in the democratic process.

They underscored the importance of voting, civic engagement and sustained communication between elected representatives and the communities they serve.

Democratic supporters attending the event expressed optimism about their party’s prospects in the upcoming election and said continued grassroots mobilization would be important in the final weeks of the campaign.

The gathering also highlighted a broader development within the Pakistani-American community, whose members are becoming increasingly engaged in American public life through voter participation, community advocacy, political campaigns and interaction with elected officials.

Community representatives said meaningful political participation provides Pakistani-Americans with an opportunity to raise issues affecting their families, businesses and neighborhoods while contributing to the wider democratic process.

As campaigning intensifies across Maryland, political organizations and candidates are expected to increase outreach to diverse communities ahead of Election Day.

For Pakistani-Americans in Baltimore County, the gathering represented another indication of a community seeking a more visible and sustained role in local civic and political affairs.
