A mobile police station and licensing unit were inaugurated in Mandi Bahauddin to provide convenience to the citizens and develop police services on modern lines. The inauguration ceremony was attended by a large number of district police officers, traffic police personnel, media representatives and citizens.
DSP Traffic Mandi Bahauddin Rashid Bashir said that the aim of the mobile police station is to provide police and licensing facilities to the citizens at their doorsteps so that they do not have to go around police stations or district headquarters. Through this unit, citizens will be able to register FIRs, complete the process of issuing and renewing driving licenses, while also getting guidance on traffic fines and other legal matters.
He said that the mobile police station is equipped with modern technology, which has a computerized system, biometric verification and online data update facility. This unit will be authorized to handle all verification processes and licensing matters on the spot.
District Traffic Officer Chaudhry Rashid Bashir Khatana, while talking to Bureau Chief SAMAA Lahore and PTV News Mandi correspondent Bahauddin Raja Muhammad Ayub, said that the mobile unit will visit different areas according to a fixed schedule, and citizens will be informed in advance so that they can complete their work on the spot. This initiative will especially benefit the residents of rural areas who previously had to travel long distances to go to the police station or license office. He said that on the instructions of the Punjab government and senior police officers, this project is an important step towards modern policing that will strengthen trust between citizens and the police. The aim of the police is not only to enforce the law but also to facilitate the public and gain their trust. For the convenience of citizens, a separate counter for women, a comfortable waiting room, and a special desk for registering FIRs have been set up in the mobile unit. The record of all operations will be preserved through a computerized system. On this occasion, Station Head Traffic Police In-charge Sub-Inspector Chaudhry Jamshed Ranjha said that if this mobile unit regularly visits every area, it will prove to be a great example of public service.
Traffic Police Inspector Tabassum Naveed Bhatti, Inspector Traffic Chaudhry Masrat Iqbal Gondal said that after the success of this model, more mobile units of the same type will be introduced in other areas of the district so that citizens can get police services at their nearest location.
On the occasion of the inauguration, a large number of citizens inspected the mobile unit and asked questions to the police officials. According to police sources, this unit will visit different areas on specific days of the week, while its working hours and locations will be informed in advance.
The establishment of a mobile police station and licensing unit in Mandi Bahauddin is a new chapter in police services which is being described as a significant step towards transparency, convenience and public service.
