
Houston, TX – The Ibn Sina Foundation hosted a special recognition ceremony to honor Stephen W. Williams, the recently retired Director of the Houston Health Department, for his exemplary service and dedication to public health in the Greater Houston area. The event, which brought together elected officials, health leaders, decades of leadership in advancing public health initiatives.
Nasruddin Rupani, Chairman of the Ibn Sina Foundation, praised Williams’ career, stating, “Mr. Williams has made extraordinary contributions to public health and community well-being. His dedication inspires us to continue building healthier and stronger communities.”
The ceremony featured commendations from numerous distinguished guests, including Texas House Representatives Suleman Lalani and Mary Ann Perez, Council Member Edward Pollard, Dr. Sherif Zaafran, Dr. Asim Shah, Robert Palussek (CEO, Legacy Health), and Robin Mansur (CEO, HHF). Each speaker acknowledged Mr. Williams’ unwavering commitment to improving health outcomes and fostering a healthier environment for Houston families.
Mr. Williams retired after a distinguished tenure leading the Houston Health Department. His leadership was instrumental in guiding the city through numerous public health challenges and expanding essential services for residents.
