History of New Gwadar International Airport

Construction of the New Gwadar International Airport, located on the Arabian Sea coast in Balochistan, began in 2019 and was completed in November 2024.

Situated 26 kilometers from the city, Gwadar International Airport is Pakistan’s largest airport by area, with a total construction cost exceeding 66 billion rupees.

The airport features a runway that is 3,658 meters long and 75 meters wide. Its cargo terminal initially has the capacity to handle approximately 30,000 tons of cargo.

It is estimated that the airport can accommodate 400,000 passengers annually, with plans to expand its capacity to 1.6 million passengers per year in the future.

With its high operational capacity, the airport will be able to provide fuel and cargo services to more than 50 airlines daily.
