Fire Safety Alert Issued Across Faisalabad Division After Karachi Incident

Surprise Inspections, Certification and Audits Made Mandatory for Malls, Plazas and Factories

Faisalabad: In compliance with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, it has been decided to ensure the completion of fire safety measures in shopping malls, plazas, factories, and other commercial buildings with public access across the Faisalabad Division. In this regard, Civil Defence, Rescue 1122, the Industries Department, and other relevant institutions have been assigned the task of conducting surprise inspections on a priority basis.

Presiding over a meeting, Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar directed that formal fire safety compliance certificates must be obtained from malls, plazas, factories, and commercial buildings. He further emphasized that regular audits would also be conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and compliance of fire safety arrangements.

The Commissioner stated that even the slightest gap or negligence in fire safety and protective measures would not be tolerated. Referring to the tragic fire incident at a shopping mall in Karachi, he said that comprehensive safety measures have become indispensable. He stressed that no compromise would be made on strengthening safety protocols to ensure the protection of human lives.
