Pakistan Women’s Captain Fatima Sana Arrives in Canada for Super 60 League
Fatima Sana will represent Vancouver Anchors in the second season of the Canada Super 60 League from September 29 to October 4
Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana has arrived in Canada to participate in the Canada Super 60 League, where she will represent the Vancouver Anchors in the second season of the tournament.
As the Pakistan women’s cricket team currently has no international commitments, the Pakistan Cricket Board issued Fatima Sana a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the Canada Super 60 League.
The second season of the Canada Super 60 League will be played from September 29 to October 4. Fatima Sana has previously also participated in England’s women’s cricket league, The Hundred.
From Tape-Ball Cricket in Karachi to Pakistan Captaincy
Fatima Sana began her cricket journey with tape-ball cricket in Karachi and, within a relatively short period, progressed to become captain of the Pakistan women’s national cricket team. She is now regarded as one of the prominent players in Pakistan women’s cricket.
In 2019, she attracted the attention of selectors after taking seven wickets in seven matches during a domestic T20 championship. Just two months later, in May 2019, she made her international debut at the age of 17 against South Africa in both One-Day International and T20 International cricket.
In 2020, Fatima Sana was named the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year. In 2021, she became the first Pakistani woman cricketer to receive the ICC Women’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year award.
That same year, her outstanding bowling performance against the West Indies also became an important milestone in her career, when she took 5 wickets for 39 runs.
Strong Performances in World Cup and Commonwealth Games
During the 2022 World Cup and Commonwealth Games, Fatima Sana was among Pakistan’s leading bowlers.
In August 2024, the Pakistan Cricket Board appointed her as the permanent captain of the Pakistan women’s national cricket team. Following her appointment as captain, her individual performances also showed significant improvement.
Pakistan remained unbeaten in the 2025 World Cup Qualifier, while Fatima Sana was also selected as the captain of the tournament’s best team.
Outstanding All-Round Performance Against South Africa
During the 2026 T20 World Cup against South Africa, Fatima Sana scored an unbeaten 55 runs and took 3 wickets for 16 runs.
With this performance, she became the first captain in a World Cup match to score a half-century and take three wickets in the same game.
540 Runs and 31 Wickets This Year
In T20 cricket this year, Fatima Sana has been among Pakistan’s leading run-scorers. She has scored 540 runs so far, while her 31 wickets with the ball have also made her one of the team’s most successful bowlers.
Under her leadership, Pakistan also produced a notable performance in the Asia Cup and secured a podium position.
Fatima Sana’s aggressive batting, effective bowling and composed leadership have established her as a prominent name not only in Pakistan women’s cricket but also in international women’s cricket.
