Administrative commitment to promoting economic activity in Faisalabad.

Address at Economic Conference, 880 new industries registered, over 47,000 jobs created, assurance to resolve traders’ issues.

Faisalabad: Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar stated that under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the divisional administration is firmly committed to promoting business activities and providing a conducive environment to industrialists and traders. He expressed these views while addressing the Economic Conference of trade and industrial associations at the platform of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry as the chief guest. Group Leader Mian Muhammad Idrees, President Chamber Sheikh Farooq Yousaf, Atif Muneer Sheikh, Naveed Akram Sheikh, Asim Muneer and other office bearers along with presidents of various associations attended the conference. During the five-hour-long conference, representatives of fifty-four associations presented proposals for further industrial growth. Industrialists and traders appreciated the ongoing public welfare measures of the divisional administration. The Chamber President highlighted the objectives of organizing the conference.

The Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the organizers and informed that during the past two to two and a half years, 880 new industries were registered in Faisalabad, generating employment for more than 47,000 people. He said that all stakeholders are being consulted regarding the relocation of industries outside the city and assured that all possible facilities would be provided to industrialists and traders. He further stated that 80 roads across the city were targeted for rehabilitation, out of which more than 40 have been repaired through cold milling, while work on the remaining 30 roads will commence immediately after the holy month of Ramadan. He added that due to the e-business portal, issuance of NOCs has become easier and faster. Proposals given by traders will be forwarded to higher federal and provincial forums.

He also informed that more than 150 industries discharging wastewater directly into channels will be facilitated in installing wastewater treatment plants. Additional land will be allocated for graveyards in the city. Across the division, more than 1,400 sewage-contaminated ponds have been identified and are being dewatered on a war footing, with public welfare schemes also being proposed for those sites. The Commissioner said that concerns of traders related to WASA Faisalabad will also be addressed. WASA is working on the rehabilitation of a 2,200-kilometer-long sewerage system, covering and maintaining more than 150,000 manholes, and upgrading the sewerage system through mega projects worth 24 billion rupees, including projects under the Punjab Development Package. He made it clear that no government department will be allowed to harass industrialists and traders under the pretext of inspections. The Additional Commissioner has been appointed as focal person in this regard to ensure complete coordination with traders and industrialists, and complaints can be lodged directly with him.

Industrialists also addressed the gathering, and at the end of the ceremony, a commemorative shield was presented to the Commissioner.
