In Fort Bend County, Texas, Dr. Mathew M. Vairamon is known not just as an attorney or an academic, but as a neighbor, mentor, and community advocate who believes deeply in the power of fairness and education to strengthen society. With more than 25 years of legal experience spanning both the United States and India, Vairamon brings a global perspective to local challenges, blending professional expertise with a genuine commitment to the people he serves.
Today, he is stepping into the public spotlight as a Republican candidate for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3 in Fort Bend County. His campaign, which officially kicked off on July 5, 2025, in Sugar Land, reflects the same values that have guided his personal and professional life for decades: compassion, integrity, and a strong belief in community engagement. Rather than focusing solely on legal technicalities, Vairamon emphasizes the human side of justice—how the court system affects families, young people, and everyday residents navigating life’s challenges.
From the Classroom to the Courtroom
Dr. Vairamon’s career is marked by a rare combination of practice and scholarship. He holds a Ph.D. in Administration of Justice from Texas Southern University and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston–Downtown. These academic achievements are not just credentials on a resume—they are tools he uses to bridge the gap between theory and real-world impact.
As a lecturer at Prairie View A&M University, Vairamon teaches courses in law and criminal justice, helping students understand how legal principles shape society. In the classroom, he is known for encouraging open dialogue and critical thinking, often drawing on his own professional experiences to bring lessons to life. His work as a published scholar, including contributions on plea bargaining in a Crime and Justice book, reflects his ongoing interest in how legal systems can be improved to serve people more fairly and efficiently.
A Career Rooted in Service
Beyond academia and private practice, Vairamon has worn many hats in public service. Early in his career, he worked as a corrections officer in Harris County, an experience that gave him firsthand insight into the realities of the criminal justice system and the importance of treating every individual with dignity. This perspective continues to influence his approach to law and mediation today.
As an accredited mediator, he has helped resolve conflicts by bringing people together rather than pushing them further apart. For Vairamon, mediation is about listening, understanding, and finding common ground—skills he believes are essential for anyone serving in a judicial role.
A Familiar Face in Fort Bend County
Vairamon’s involvement in Fort Bend County extends well beyond his professional life. He has served as Vice-Chair of the Planning & Zoning Commission in Stafford, where he worked on issues that directly affect how neighborhoods grow and thrive. As Treasurer of the Fort Bend Taxpayers Coalition, he has been involved in conversations about responsible governance and fiscal transparency.
These roles reflect a consistent theme in his life: showing up. Whether it’s attending local meetings, supporting youth and family initiatives, or engaging in civic discussions, Vairamon believes that strong communities are built when residents take an active role in shaping their future.

A Vision for Justice of the Peace
The office of Justice of the Peace in Texas plays a crucial role in everyday life. From handling small claims and landlord-tenant disputes to addressing truancy and officiating marriages, the position touches people at some of their most stressful and meaningful moments. Vairamon sees this role not just as a judicial post, but as a point of connection between the legal system and the community.
His campaign platform highlights fairness, legal education, and support for youth and families. He often speaks about making the court a place where people feel heard and respected, regardless of their background or circumstances. For him, justice is not only about applying the law—it’s about ensuring that the process is accessible, transparent, and humane.
Looking Ahead
As Fort Bend County prepares for the upcoming election cycle, Dr. Mathew M. Vairamon’s candidacy adds a thoughtful, service-oriented voice to the conversation about local leadership. His journey—from corrections officer to attorney, from lecturer to community leader—tells a story of someone who has spent a lifetime learning how systems work and how they can work better for the people within them.
Whether in the classroom, the courtroom, or the community, Vairamon’s guiding principle remains the same: justice should be rooted in compassion, informed by knowledge, and strengthened by active civic engagement. For many in Fort Bend County, he represents a vision of local leadership that is both professional and deeply personal—one that recognizes the law as a living part of everyday life, not just a set of rules on paper.
