Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) Chairman and head of Tehreek Tahaffuz Aeen-e-Pakistan, Mehmood Khan Achakzai, has declared that Pakistan’s current government is “completely unacceptable, warning that if the public mandate of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is violated or any attempt is made to impose Governor’s Rule, people will take to the streets in strong protest.
He was addressing a large public gathering at Ayub Stadium on the 52nd death anniversary of PMAP founding leader Khan Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai, attended by thousands from various regions.
Achakzai said the Constitution has been reduced to a symbolic document, and a parliament formed through pressure, influence, or non-transparent methods has no moral right to amend the Constitution’s basic structure. He alleged that in several constituencies, losing candidates were declared winners through unfair tactics and financial manipulation.
He said the mass disqualification of opposition lawmakers was an attempt to create an artificial majority, resulting in a government lacking public legitimacy. He also criticized the justice system and raised concerns about security issues in Pashtun and Baloch regions, saying their size and resources make them targets of unrest.
Achakzai stressed that Pakistan’s natural resources and governing authority must belong to its nationalities — Pashtun, Baloch, Sindhi, Punjabi, and Seraiki rather than a powerful elite.
Leaders of PMAP, PTI, and other parties addressed the gathering and reaffirmed their commitment to constitutional and democratic rights. A resolution was presented by PMAP Quetta President Syed Sharaf, while Nawab Ayaz Khan Jogezai and other leaders also spoke.
Achakzai said Pakistan is passing through a critical phase and can only be stabilized by recognizing national rights and strengthening Parliament. He condemned the treatment of Afghan refugees, recalling that Pakistani officials once praised them for “fighting our war, but now they are being expelled. He added, “We do not want war. Major world powers fought great wars and now live peacefully.
