On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Social Welfare and Baitul Mal Punjab Department organized an important ceremony for the welfare of special people, in which Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Sohail Shaukat Butt and Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan specially participated. In the ceremony, electric wheelchairs, motorcycles, tricycles and other assistive devices were distributed among deserving disabled people from Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Sahiwal divisions, while 1100 wheelchairs were provided by the Social Welfare Department to the Transport Department so that special people could be facilitated in public transport.
Secretary Social Welfare Javed Akhtar Mahmood and other officers of the department were also present on the occasion. Sohail Shaukat Butt said that the government is using all possible resources to give a dignified life to special people. Bilal Akbar Khan said that the scope of facilities for special persons in public transport will be further expanded. Special persons appreciated this government initiative and thanked the Chief Minister of Punjab and the concerned ministers.
