On July 24, President Xi Jinping met European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Beijing during the 25th China-EU Summit.
President Xi proposed three key areas to enhance ties: strengthening partnership through mutual respect, promoting open cooperation to resolve differences, and upholding multilateralism and global rules. He emphasized that China’s development is not a threat to Europe.
EU leaders welcomed Xi’s proposals, expressed confidence in China’s growth, and rejected the idea of “decoupling.” They committed to deepening cooperation based on mutual benefit, equality, and international rule of law.
