Lahore — Lahore is set to become the first city in Pakistan to launch electric trams after the successful operation of the Orange Line Metro Train.
According to the Orange Line spokesperson, trams imported from China are currently being assembled at Ali Town Depot and will soon undergo trial runs between Thokar Niaz Baig and Harbanspura.
Each tram will have three coaches with a capacity of 250 passengers. The system can run up to 27 kilometers with just 10 minutes of charging. A proposal is under review to allow free travel for citizens during the trial phase.
The initiative aims to modernize urban transportation and reduce environmental pollution. Citizens have widely welcomed this green transit solution.
