Houston, Texas — On the evening of September 12, 2026, Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen stood in a Houston living room and delivered a message that resonated deeply with the Pakistani-American community.
The private fundraising dinner, hosted by prominent attorney Nomi Husain at his home on 1 Ames Circle, brought together key community leaders including Rob Ammons, Mo Aziz, Abrahim Javed, Tahir Javed, Mustafa Tameez, and attorney Omar Khawaja. The event was organized to support Van Hollen for Senate.
Born in Karachi in 1959, Senator Van Hollen reminded the audience of his personal connection to Pakistan. He then turned to the future of U.S.-Pakistan relations with a clear and strong message.
“I would like to see a deeper economic relationship between the people of the United States and the people of Pakistan, businesses in the United States, businesses in Pakistan,” he said.
