Public Issues Cannot Be Resolved Through Force, Establishment Must Show Seriousness: Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Quetta (Syed Sardar Mohammad Khondai) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, arrived in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, on a one-day visit. He was warmly received at Quetta Airport by members of the provincial and national assemblies, JUI’s provincial emir Maulana Abdul Wasey, along with other central and provincial leaders and workers.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman offered Fateha on the demise of the elder brother of former Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly, Malik Sikandar Khan Advocate, and offered collective prayers for the departed souls of Balochistan Police and other martyrs of recent terrorist incidents.
Later, addressing an emergency press conference at the residence of Maulana Abdul Wasey, he said that the worst and most serious law and order situation in Balochistan has grieved the entire nation, and no amount of condemnation is enough.
He said that the ruling elite of Pakistan needs to adopt a serious approach, as public issues and difficulties cannot be resolved through force. For this, the entire nation will have to think together to save the country.
Reacting to the statement of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, he said that it does not befit his stature and only reflects a specific mindset aimed at diverting attention from public issues. “We are not against provinces, but for that, all nations must be taken into confidence. FATA was merged in a non-serious manner and its problems remain as they were,” he added.
Advising Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, he said that he is not just a representative of one nation at this time but of the entire opposition of the country. He should convene a meeting of all opposition parties at the national level and formulate a joint strategy to save the country and the nation.
He further said that there is no such thing as government writ left in the country. “Earlier we used to mourn the situation in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but now the situation in Azad Kashmir is also extremely deplorable. We want to make it clear to the establishment that the only way to solve the problems facing this country is to empower the public representatives and political parties, but unfortunately, today in Pakistan, the supreme parliament of the country has been limited to just a name.
