Pakistani High Commissioner Inaugurates Sadequain Art Exhibition in Mississauga

Mr. Muhammad Saleem, the High Commissioner for Canada, inaugurated the Sadequain Art Exhibition in Mississauga on Friday to celebrate the enduring legacy of Syed Sadequain Ahmed Naqvi (1930–1987), one of Pakistan’s most distinguished artistic visionaries.

Organized by the Sadequain Foundation in collaboration with local hosts and media partners, the exhibition seeks to present the profound depth, symbolism, and cultural resonance embedded in his invaluable body of artwork.

The three-day event is expected to draw diverse groups of visitors, including connoisseurs of art and calligraphy, members of the media, civil society, and students from the Aga Khan Foundation Academy, Toronto, and other institutions.

Through this immersive experience, participants are afforded a rare opportunity to engage with Sadequain’s extraordinary artistic expression through Islamic calligraphy, paintings, drawings, murals, and Urdu poetry, while also reflecting on Pakistan’s immense contribution to the global landscape of art and culture.

Adding intellectual depth to the event, the esteemed Pakistani scholar and poet Ashfaq Hussain is set to offer thoughtful insight into Sadequain’s multifaceted legacy, exploring his remarkable contribution to visual art, poetry, and scholarship.
