Sewerage System Upgradation Package of Rs 23 Billion Launched in Faisalabad

Rs 23 billion sewage upgradation project launched in Faisalabad, instructions to complete underground storage tanks before monsoon

Faisalabad: Provincial Secretary for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department Noor-ul-Amin Mengal has said that work has formally begun on a Rs 23 billion development package for the upgradation of Faisalabad’s sewerage system, the first phase of the project will be completed by June 2026 while the second phase will be finalized by June 2027, which will provide a sustainable and comprehensive solution to the city’s drainage issues. During his visit to review the construction work of the underground storage tank at Crescent Ground, he stated that under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, sewerage upgradation schemes worth Rs 200 billion are underway across the province to ensure quality water supply and drainage facilities for citizens, adding that these development schemes will prove to be a game changer for the people of Punjab. The Provincial Secretary further said that to ensure immediate drainage of rainwater during the monsoon season, underground storage tanks are being constructed at various ponding points in Faisalabad so that rainwater can be drained in the shortest possible time, he emphasized that strict safety measures must be ensured in all development schemes and no negligence will be tolerated, he directed that ongoing projects should be completed before the current monsoon season so that citizens can benefit from these initiatives without delay. On this occasion, Managing Director WASA Saqib Raza briefed the Provincial Secretary and informed that under the second phase of the Punjab Development Program, four additional underground storage tanks are being constructed in different areas of the city including Crescent Park Main Sheikhupura Road, near General Hospital Ghulam Muhammad Abad, Pakistan Chowk Main Narwala Road and Hockey Stadium Madina Town Susan Road, he added that the estimated cost of these four projects is Rs 875.7 million and the Crescent Park project will be completed by July 2026, which will enable immediate drainage of accumulated rainwater at Millat Chowk.
