Toba Tek Singh: Under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, “Khelta Punjab,” final preparations are being made for the marathon to be held in Toba Tek Singh. District Sports Officer (DSO) Chaudhary Muhammad Jamil talking to our correspondent, said that on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Umar Abbas Mela, a detailed review of administrative arrangements has been conducted, including the marathon route, security measures, medical facilities, traffic plan and other related matters.
He added that the Deputy Commissioner has instructed all concerned departments to complete necessary arrangements in a timely manner to ensure that the marathon is conducted in a safe, organized and transparent manner.
District Sports Officer Chaudhary Muhammad Jamil further stated that the Toba Tek Singh Marathon will be held on 8th February under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Umar Abbas Mela. The event is being organized jointly by the District Council and the Sports Department.The marathon will provide equal opportunities for children, youth, adults and senior citizens to participate in healthy activities. A special 2.5-kilometer race has been arranged for children aged 13 years and below, while 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer races have been scheduled for youth and adults.
The 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer races have been divided into four age categories, under 18 years, 19 to 30 years, 31 to 40 years and above 40 years. Participants from all walks of life will be eligible to take part in the marathon.
Outstanding performers will be awarded prizes, medals and trophies. However, each participant will be allowed to compete in only one category. Departmental athletes will not be allowed to participate, and the referee’s decision during the competitions will be considered final.
Online registration for the Toba Tek Singh Marathon has already started and will remain open until February 6.
