Last night in Chaman, in two separate incidents, one person was killed and another was injured as a result of firing by robbers. Reports have also been received of mobile phones and cash being snatched.
In protest against the deteriorating law and order situation in Chaman and the tragic incidents of last night, people from various schools of thought, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, and Awami National Party, staged a strong protest and held a sit-in in front of the Chaman Deputy Commissioner Complex. The body of the deceased was also brought to the protest site.
The protesters expressed deep sorrow over the incident and stated that due to the border closure for the past three years, daily wage earners in Chaman are already struggling to meet their basic needs, and the recent wave of insecurity has made life unbearable for the public.
Negotiations between the protesters and the district administration, led by District Police Officer (DPO) Chaman Abdullah Imran Cheema, were successful, after which the protest was called off.
On this occasion, DPO Abdullah Imran Cheema said that all available resources would be utilized to arrest the culprits and that no one would be allowed to disrupt law and order. He added that Chaman has recently been merged into a district police system and, God willing, indiscriminate action will be taken against criminal elements across the entire district. He emphasized that serving and protecting the public is their duty and top priority, and that police doors are always open to the people. Various measures are under consideration to maintain peace and order, and the public will soon feel the positive impact.
