Faisalabad: Following the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the divisional administration is actively working to eliminate illegal parking sites across the city. Under the chairmanship of Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar, a meeting was held during which the City Traffic Police and Municipal Corporation were instructed to conduct crackdowns based on identified locations. The Commissioner stated that illegal parking sites are a major obstacle to smooth traffic flow and their removal is highly necessary. The Chief Traffic Officer reported that Jersey barriers have been installed at three points on Canal Road to prevent traffic accidents, and plans are underway to close unnecessary U-turns and bridges on Canal Expressway. The Commissioner also directed the Traffic Police, TAPA, and Municipal Corporation to conduct joint city visits and submit reports for enhanced traffic management. The briefing also covered the operational status of traffic signals across the city. In another meeting, the Commissioner reviewed progress on establishing a Divisional Model College (DMC) in Samanabad and instructed technical inspections of the government building proposed for DMC. He stated that enrolled children will be accommodated and provided one year of free education. The Deputy Commissioner also briefed on beautification plans for eight markets, ongoing road repair and rehabilitation works, and the activation of streetlights, including over 7,000 operational lights citywide with 2,000 more to be activated within 10 days.
