A Career of Coaching, Media, and Service Recognized in Virginia Goes to Field Hockey Coach Asim Siddiqui At a ceremony celebrating excellence in sports and community leadership, field hockey coach Asim Siddiqui was honored for more than two decades of contributions spanning athletics, media, and public service. In his remarks, Siddiqui expressed gratitude to the First Lady and Governor Glenn Youngkin for the recognition, emphasizing that the honor belonged as much to his athletes as to himself. “This recognition is shared with generations of players who trained under my guidance and went on to represent their schools, clubs, and universities with distinction,” he said. Over the past 20 years, Siddiqui has coached and mentored thousands of girls across private and public schools, clubs, and universities in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. His work has helped build competitive programs while expanding opportunities for women in sports—an impact he described as part of a broader American story of access and possibility. Proud to identify as an American Pakistani, Siddiqui credited the United States with turning long-held aspirations into reality. Beyond coaching, he has represented the U.S. at the international level, built a career in journalism, and established himself in studio and production work—fields that demand both discipline and creative vision. He concluded by acknowledging the support of Mansoor Qureshi, Juan Pablo Segura, and the South Asian Business Council of Virginia, underscoring the importance of community partnerships in sustaining long-term impact. The moment, Siddiqui noted, was not only a personal milestone but a testament to collective effort, perseverance, and opportunity.
