(Sayed Sardar Muhammad Khondai, Quetta )
Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has said that the launch of the first-ever Pink Bus Service in Quetta is the practical realization of Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision, a vision he expressed on the day Bugti took oath as Chief Minister. He added that this is a proud moment for the province, as following the introduction of Pink Scooties, the Pink Bus Service marks yet another revolutionary step toward providing safe, dignified, and high-quality transportation facilities for women.
He expressed these views on Wednesday while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Pink Bus Service and the expansion project of the Green Bus Service. The event was attended by provincial ministers, members of the assembly, journalists, civil society representatives, women, PPP leaders, and senior officials.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said the Government of Balochistan is committed to ensuring modern and high-quality transport facilities for the people of the province. In line with this vision, the Green Bus Service is being expanded to Pishin, Mastung, and Turbat, while significant progress is also being made on the Quetta–Sariab Peoples Train project, which will greatly benefit citizens. He also announced plans to introduce electric buses in Balochistan to not only improve public transport but also address environmental pollution.
He stated, “The empowerment of women is the foundation of social progress.”
The Chief Minister praised the performance of female Deputy Commissioners serving across different districts of Balochistan, saying that their contributions prove women are no less capable than men in administrative responsibilities. He said the launch of the Pink Bus Service, women’s scholarships, and various development programs are all steps toward providing greater opportunities for women.
Sarfraz Bugti also sent a clear message to those elements who want to push Baloch women away from education and development and towards extremism and destruction. He said such forces must understand that the Government of Balochistan is opening the doors of the world’s top universities for its daughters. The people of Balochistan have never benefited from this pointless conflict, nor will they ever. Even if not today, in the coming years this reality will become clear to the entire nation.
He reaffirmed with determination that the state will succeed in this struggle, and that development, peace, and a bright future are destined for Balochistan.
At the end of the ceremony, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti formally inaugurated the Pink Bus Service and the expansion of the Green Bus Service.
