DSP Traffic Zaheer Ahmed has appointed the honest, brave and noble police officer Izzat Rasool as the in-charge of the Anti-Smog Squad Gujarat, who has started indiscriminate action against vehicles emitting excessive smoke and causing smog under the Motor Vehicle Amendment Ordinance, under which a fine of Rs 2,000 is being imposed on motorcycles causing smog, Rs 5,000 on cars, jeeps and buses, trucks, trailers, etc. In a special conversation with Bureau Chief SAMAA Lahore and PTV News correspondent Mandi Bahauddin Raja Muhammad Ayub, Izzat Rasool said that the Traffic Police Gujarat issued challan tickets to more than 900 vehicles emitting smoke in the last 9 days. The fitness certificates of 29 vehicles were suspended for emitting smoke, the route permits of more than 06 environmentally friendly vehicles were suspended, FIRs were registered against 10 vehicles emitting smoke and more than 40 vehicles were stopped in different police stations for emitting smoke, and heavy fines were imposed on more than 50 covered vehicles loaded with sand and soil for causing pollution. New fines are also being imposed on vehicles emitting smoke from schools, colleges and universities.
