A review meeting regarding the ongoing operation against Afghan nationals and other illegally residing foreigners was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Quetta Division, Shahzeb Khan Kakar. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Quetta Mehrullah Badini, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, officials from FIA, Police, and other law-enforcement agencies. DIG Police, Deputy Commissioners of Chaman, Killa Abdullah, Pishin, SP Killa Abdullah, and the Deputy Director FIA joined the meeting online.
During the meeting, it was decided to further accelerate the operation against illegally residing Afghan nationals and other foreign individuals across all four districts of Quetta Division. It was agreed that two major operations will be carried out every week, while checking at hotels, inns, and bus terminals will be made stricter.
Briefing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner Quetta said that more than 30,000 illegally residing individuals have been sent back to their home country through joint actions of the district administration, police, and other agencies. He also mentioned that due to election preparations and administrative engagements, operations had slowed down in recent weeks. From next week onward, checking will be increased to four days a week in all four tehsils.
The Deputy Commissioner Killa Abdullah informed that over 23,000 foreigners have been deported so far, and operations are continuing at a fast pace. Police have been issued special directions for strict monitoring at hotels and bus stands.
The Deputy Commissioner Pishin briefed that earlier 35,000 individuals were residing in two major Afghan camps in Pishin, out of which 34,000 have been sent back. The camps have now been handed over to the district administration, while shops owned by illegal individuals have been sealed and demolished. Overall, more than 82,000 illegal residents have been repatriated from Quetta Division so far.
The meeting was informed that some foreign nationals are hiding in urban areas using fake identity cards, creating challenges for law-enforcement agencies. A new mechanism has been developed to tighten the verification process.
Commissioner Quetta Shahzeb Khan Kakar directed district administrations, police, FC, and FIA to further accelerate the actions against illegal residents. He emphasized adopting a joint strategy to ensure the early repatriation of the maximum number of individuals. He also ordered strict checking at hotels and transport terminals and instructed that all operational data be updated and submitted daily.
He added that with coordinated efforts of the district administration, the complete repatriation of all illegal residents will soon be ensured.
