Punjab Minister for Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq chaired an important meeting at the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company (PHIMC), focusing on key projects including Universal Health Insurance, the Adult Cardiac Surgery Program, Stroke Program, and Cancer Care Program. Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mehmood Khan joined the session via video link, while PHIMC CEO Dr. Ali Razaq and other senior officials were also in attendance.
During the meeting, the company presented various proposals and briefed the minister on the monitoring framework, service delivery mechanisms, and patient facilitation measures. Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafiq emphasized that transparency, service quality, and patient convenience remain top priorities of the government. He added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab is undergoing major reforms in the healthcare sector.
The minister announced that historic projects for cancer treatment, stroke care, and adult cardiac surgeries are being launched soon. He further stated that the Universal Health Insurance Program is being strengthened under a sustainable model to ensure maximum public benefit.
Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Secretary Azmat Mehmood Khan reaffirmed the department’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services across the province. He said that all necessary steps are being taken to resolve issues in empanelled hospitals and to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.
