Russia and Ukraine Begin Major Prisoner Swap Following Turkey Talks

Russia and Ukraine have launched a major prisoner exchange, their largest since the war began, following breakthrough negotiations last week in Turkey. Each side will release 1,000 individuals in phased exchanges. On Friday, Ukraine repatriated 390 people, while Russia received 270 soldiers and 120 civilians. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy confirmed the swap, and U.S. President Trump praised it as a potential path to peace. Despite the positive step, major differences remain, particularly over territorial demands. Still, the exchange is being seen as a rare sign of cooperation and a hopeful signal toward easing tensions in the prolonged conflict.
