On September 24, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a video address to the UN Climate Summit, marking the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement. He emphasized confidence in green, low-carbon transitions, fair responsibility-sharing between developed and developing nations, and deeper global cooperation in green technology and industry.
President Xi announced China’s new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), pledging to cut net greenhouse gas emissions by 7–10% from peak levels by 2035, raise the non-fossil share of energy to over 30%, expand wind and solar power capacity sixfold compared to 2020, and enhance forest volume.
He stressed that achieving these goals requires China’s own efforts alongside a favorable international environment. Xi reaffirmed China’s commitment to its climate pledges and urged all countries to act decisively for a harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature, safeguarding the planet as a shared home.
