A province-wide shutter-down and wheel-jam strike crippled normal life in Chaman, Quetta, and several districts of Balochistan

On the call of the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan, a complete shutter-down strike and wheel-jam strike were observed across the border city of Chaman, the provincial capital Quetta, and several other districts of Balochistan in protest against the allegedly rigged general elections of 8 February 2024.
Throughout the day, normal life remained severely paralyzed, as all commercial activities came to a complete standstill and major roads witnessed prolonged traffic blockades. The situation remained tense due to intermittent between and protestors, while a large number of political workers belonging to opposition parties were arrested. In several areas, tear gas shelling was carried out to disperse demonstrators.
Leaders of the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan stated that a historic and unprecedented protest had been recorded across the province. They asserted that the people of Pakistan have clearly demonstrated that they would never accept any government imposed through coercion, wealth, or manipulation.
The successful shutter-down and wheel-jam strike was described as a public vote of no confidence against the current federal and provincial governments.
