UNAIDS Leaders Warn of Impact of U.S. Funding Cuts on HIV Response
Winnie Byanyima and Angeli Achrekar, the executive and deputy executive directors of UNAIDS, have highlighted the serious consequences of U.S. funding cuts on the global fight against HIV/AIDS. They warn that reduced financial support could hinder treatment programs and prevention efforts, especially in vulnerable regions.
The U.S. has been a major contributor to global HIV/AIDS initiatives, and any reduction in aid could slow progress in combating the disease. UNAIDS urges continued international support to prevent setbacks in the fight against HIV.
