U.S. to Pursue Bilateral Trade Talks After Tariff Measures, Says Rubio
The United States will seek new bilateral trade agreements with key countries after implementing tariffs on its major trading partners, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday.
Rubio emphasized that the tariffs are aimed at addressing trade imbalances and protecting American industries. Once these measures are in place, Washington plans to engage in direct negotiations to establish fairer and more strategic trade arrangements.
The approach signals a shift in U.S. trade policy, focusing on country-to-country deals rather than broad multilateral agreements. However, it remains to be seen how affected nations will respond to the tariff strategy before talks begin.
