Swedish Journalist Jailed in Turkey on Terrorism Charges
Swedish journalist Kaj Joakim Medin has been jailed in Turkey pending trial on terrorism charges, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Friday. Medin was in Turkey to cover protests against the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu. Turkish authorities have not disclosed specific details of the charges, but the case has raised concerns over press freedom and the treatment of foreign journalists in the country.
