
PM Shehbaz Sharif Condemns U.S. Strikes on Iran in Phone Call with Iranian President
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian via telephone, condemning the recent U.S. strikes following Israel’s unprovoked aggression over the past eight days. He expressed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Iranian people and government, offering heartfelt condolences for the loss of lives and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The Prime Minister raised concerns that the targeted sites were under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards, calling the attacks a serious violation of IAEA rules and international law. Referencing Article 51 of the UN Charter, he emphasized Iran’s right to self-defense.
PM Shehbaz Sharif stressed the urgent need for negotiations and diplomacy as the only viable path to peace. He called for collective efforts to de-escalate tensions and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role.
President Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s support and expressed gratitude on behalf of Iran’s government, people, and military leadership. Both leaders agreed on the importance of unity within the Muslim community during this critical time and pledged to maintain close communication.
