Panama’s Safe Passage for Ex-President Martinelli Expires

The safe passage granted by Panama to former President Ricardo Martinelli to travel to Nicaragua expired at midnight on Thursday after Nicaragua failed to respond within the agreed timeframe. Martinelli, who had been in the Nicaraguan Embassy in Panama, remains under diplomatic asylum, but his movement is now restricted.
