Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Open a New Chapter in Cricket and Security Cooperation
Riyadh (By Amir Muhammad Khan)– Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Interior and Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi , recently concluded an important visit to Saudi Arabia, during which he held high-level meetings in **Riyadh and Jeddah . The visit resulted in agreements to establish a world-class cricket stadium in Jeddah and to further strengthen bilateral security cooperation, marking a significant expansion of collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in both sports and security.
During his meetings with senior Saudi officials, both brotherly nations reaffirmed their commitment to promoting cricket and enhancing institutional cooperation in the security sector. A **Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)** was signed for the construction of a modern international-standard cricket stadium in Jeddah.
The proposed stadium will feature world-class cricket facilities, state-of-the-art floodlights, advanced broadcasting and media centers, a professional cricket academy, modern amenities for players and spectators, and other facilities meeting international standards.
Under the agreement, the Pakistan Cricket Board will also assist Saudi Arabia in promoting cricket through coaching, technical expertise, talent development, and support in organizing international-standard cricket events. Experts believe that this landmark project will play a vital role in developing cricket in Saudi Arabia while creating new sporting opportunities across the region.
In addition to the cricket agreement, Mohsin Naqvi held separate meetings with Saudi Arabia’s senior leadership and relevant security officials. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in counter-terrorism, anti-narcotics operations, border security, institutional collaboration, intelligence sharing, and enhancing overall security coordination between the two countries. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together for regional peace, stability, and security.
The cricket stadium project aligns with **Saudi Vision 2030**, which aims to expand investment in sports and promote international sporting events throughout the Kingdom. For Pakistan, the initiative represents an excellent opportunity to strengthen sports diplomacy while further deepening the longstanding brotherly relations between the two nations.
The large Pakistani and Kashmiri communities living in Saudi Arabia have warmly welcomed the development. Cricket enthusiasts expressed hope that the construction of a world-class stadium in Jeddah will pave the way for hosting international cricket matches, training camps, and other major sporting events in the future, bringing the people of both countries even closer together.
This development is a positive indication that Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations are evolving beyond traditional diplomatic and economic cooperation into a new era of partnership encompassing sports, investment, institutional collaboration, and people-to-people engagement, further reinforcing the strong and enduring ties between the two brotherly nations.
