Pakistan Navy’s modern warship PNS Khyber arrives at Jeddah Islamic Port on a goodwill mission, reinforcing Pakistan–Saudi defense cooperation

Pakistan Navy’s modern warship Khyber has arrived in Jeddah Islamic Port on a goodwill visit under the command of Captain Ali Raza. A grand reception ceremony was held on board the ship in which the national anthems of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were played and a cake was cut. The ceremony was attended by Consul General of Pakistan Consulate Jeddah Syed Mustafa Rabbani, Deputy Consul General, Consular Officers Sadia Waqar Nisa Ghulam Hussain, Abdullah Ghuman, Imran Ali, Abdul Wahab Soomro, Sadia Khan, Fahad Chaudhry, Azka Zafar Akif Javed, Zainab Asad and other diplomatic officers. The dinner was attended by Saudi businessmen, Saudi Navy officers, members of the Pakistani community Chaudhry Shafqat Mahmood Masood Puri, Chaudhry Azhar Abbas Warraich, Chaudhry Tawsor Hussain, Dr. Sharif Zaman, Abu Majdi, Malik Abid Awan, Jan Gulzar, Mumtaz Akhtar Kahlo and other dignitaries, while Saudi Navy officers were also present at the ceremony. Consul General Syed Mustafa Rabbani and Captain Ali Raza warmly welcomed all the guests. Captain Ali Raza said that PNS Khyber was recently acquired from Turkey and this is its first international goodwill visit. He said that the ship has full combat capabilities as per the requirements of the modern era while it is named after the Khyber Fort conquered by Hazrat Ali (RA). He further said that after Jeddah, the ship will set off on its return journey. Consul General Syed Mustafa Rabbani said that this visit of PNS Khyber is not only a manifestation of the professionalism of the Pakistan Navy but will also play an important role in further strengthening the long-standing defense cooperation and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He said that the defense partnership between the two countries spans decades and includes important areas such as joint military exercises, training programs, intelligence cooperation and maritime security. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are in close contact for maintaining peace and stability in the region, securing the Red Sea and Gulf waterways and joint efforts against terrorism. During the ceremony, the guests toured different parts of the ship and appreciated the professionalism of the officers and men of the Pakistan Navy. Consul General Syed Mustafa Rabbani, along with the Saudi Navy officers and the ship’s Captain Ali Raza, performed the cake cutting ceremony. After a sumptuous dinner, Captain Ali Raza and Consul General Syed Mustafa Rabbani bid farewell to the distinguished guests. The participants expressed happiness over Saudi friendship and defense trust.
