Legal Appointment and Military Structure Reforms Confirmed, Social Media Flooded with Exaggeration and Fake News
Faisalabad: Pakistan Army Chief General Hafiz Asim Munir has been legally granted the rank of Field Marshal and the position of Chief of Defence Forces. The 27th Constitutional Amendment has been passed in Parliament. A unified structure has been created for the heads of all three armed forces, with the Army Chief assuming command of all branches as Chief of Defence Forces, and preparations are underway to issue the official notification to fully recognize the legal status of the position. Recently, some sources claimed that Asim Munir has been given lifelong control over the army and state, the elimination of political parties, and complete authority over future presidential and ministerial appointments. These claims have not been substantiated by any official notification or legal provision. According to credible sources, Asim Munir has been legally appointed as Field Marshal and Chief of Defence Forces, but his authority does not fully extend over political parties or democratic institutions. The military reforms have been carried out within the current constitutional framework, and the legal status of civil institutions, Parliament, and the judiciary remains intact. Based on verified facts, the appointment of Pakistan Army Chief to the rank of Field Marshal and as Chief of Defence Forces has been legally confirmed, but claims based on rumors and exaggeration that lifelong military rule will be established or political parties will be abolished are unsubstantiated and have no official proof.
