Passports chief reviews operational readiness at King Abdulaziz International Airport amid Ramadan Umrah surge

JEDDAH: The Acting Director General of Passports, Major General Dr. Saleh bin Saad Al-Murabba, conducted an inspection tour of passport halls at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Monday to assess operational readiness and review procedures for pilgrims arriving to perform Umrah during the holy month of Ramadan.The visit comes as the Kingdom experiences a surge in the number of Umrah performers during Ramadan, one of the busiest periods of the year for religious travel. Al-Murabba toured the arrival and departure halls, as well as the dedicated Hajj and Umrah terminals, to monitor the implementation of the General Directorate of Passports’ operational plan for the season.
During the tour, he was briefed on the work of the Evaluation and Performance Measurement Unit under the Operations Affairs Department at the airport’s Passports Directorate. The unit relies on real-time monitoring mechanisms to track performance indicators and measure completion rates, contributing to continuous improvement and enhancing pilgrims’ overall experience.
Al-Murabba emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts throughout Ramadan and working in a unified team spirit to ensure the smooth flow of passengers. He highlighted the need to utilize all human and technical resources to complete procedures accurately and efficiently.
He said that facilitating pilgrims’ journeys reflects the Kingdom’s continued commitment to serving Islam and Muslims and reinforces its leading role in managing religious seasons with professionalism and excellence.
