Gulnur Tumbet reached the summit of K2 on August 11, becoming the first Turkish woman to achieve the feat. Despite severe weather that forced other climbers to retreat, she persisted and shared her success from the peak. Tumbet, a marketing professor in the U.S., has been climbing since she was 17.
